Blog EntryConversation with Amy MeeksSep 18, '07 6:52 PM
for everyone
The other day, when I was in Graham, I needed to go to the grocery store.  I tried to find someone to go with me, but no one seemed interested.  So, I thought, I'll stop by and see if Amy is home maybe she would like to go.  Well, Jesus set that up for both of us.  It was one of those days that the person you end up spending time with has a bucket of blessings of good things to say and encouragement for you.  While we were talking I had a backward thought that Jesus reversed for me :-)  It was that before I got married I had to be settled in my spirit to know that if He never sent me anyone that I would be 100% satisfied with my life with just Jesus and me.  And I told Amy that I felt like most people need to get there, or else they would never really be happy...and then!  My thought was turned around and I said, "Well, you know what, married or not you have to be 100% content with just the relationship you have with you and Jesus." And if you're not you won't be happy.

That's good, Ashley. I think that's really it -- you don't necessarily have to be satisfied with your life to be doing right. You just need to be satisfied (really satisfied, not just words) with your relationship with Jesus and that he is working all things for your good. If you had to be satisfied with your life, then what would be the point of praying for things that you want from God (like, for instance, a family)? I think it is okay to want certain things in your life to change; but what you need to do is to make sure that you are patient in waiting, have the right attitude about it, and have a right relationship with the Father until he answers your prayers or changes your desires.

I'm not sure if this is what you were saying or not, but I liked these thoughts that came from it, so thanks! :)

This is very good Ashley! I agree, with Bekah about the part about you have to have a right attitude too....it's like that quote from Tracey H. that I like: ♥"If you are seeing things that you need to work on, you need to become mature enough to where you would work on those things whether or not God gave you what you wanted." ~Tracey 7/2/06
I always think back on this! :-)

Yes! You are always so very good at putting into words the feelings that I am trying to relay. I think it is a normal thing to want a family or whatever it is like that, but to it won't make you happy. If you don't have that connection with Jesus the other won't give you that feeling that you might be missing. If that makes sense. :) I know, when Amy and I were talking it was like I was flooded with good thoughts and things that were making first time connections.

Hey Ashley. I have to say you got that right. Being 100% full of Jesus and your relationship means everything. And everything beyond that is an added blessing. 8-) And, attitude is everything! I think we are learning that, even now, more and more. Concentrating on doing good for others is being like Jesus, and that makes your relationship with him stronger. When that is strong, everything else falls right into place.
